This year we will focus on one literary genre each month. We will discuss characteristics of the genre in our Reading Street program, and while reading a novel together in class. Beginning in November, the students will also be required to read a book from each genre independently, and complete a book report project each month. Students will do these projects in class, and on their own time. The genres will be taught as follows.
September - Fairy Tales
October - Traditional Literature
November - Historical Fiction
December - Poetry
January - Science Fiction
February - Realistic Fiction
March - Biography
April - Fantasy
May - Mystery
5th Grade - Heritage Elementary
